MASN at the Ethnosymposium 2019

Liam Tuesday June 4, 2019
Hi everyone!

Just a quick update that MASN will be at the Ethnosymposium 2019 in Munich (13th - 16th June)!

We'll hold a short talk + workshop regarding MASN and especially the forum dealing with the topic of communication, networking and resistance in Anthropology. Join us on Friday at 10:30 AM.

There is also a new forum category especially for discussion, etc all around this year's Ethnosymposium Conference. Find it here.

You can find more information regarding the Ethnosymposium on their website.

See you there!

MASN Website Today

Liam Tuesday June 4, 2019
After a longer break of activity and administration of the website, two motivated people have taken up work on the website and MASN itself again.

Maia has been on it for a longer time but you might not know me, so here's an introduction:

My name is Liam and I study Anthropology in south Germany. I contacted Maia a few months ago because I liked the idea of MASN and offered to help out if there's any need. So we started to work on the website again, updated the forum software, and redid the website so that (nearly) everything works.

The website is now running the newest version of Tiki (that's the software behind the forum, etc) and is pretty much fully functional. New registrations still have to be approved by the admins, we thought it still makes sense to leave that as it is.

The website is reachable via moving-anthropology.net and movinganthropology.net. Both will bring you to the same website.

We'll be at Ethnosymposium Conference in Munich next week to talk about MASN and the new website. If you notice anything that isn't working on the website, feel free to reach out (under the tab "Contact").

Greetings,

Liam

The present and future of this Website

See the post above this one on the blackboard for an update considering the future of the website (it's positive :-)).

This homepage is provided to you by members of MASN-Vienna, which is part of the independent international MASN. Due to changes in our personal lives and the structures we were working in, we have to apply several changes to this website:

1.) If nobody else will take responsibility for this site, we will keep it running for another 3 years and than probably shut it down in 2019, due to lack of resources.

2.) Since there isn't a lot of action in the forums, we encourage members to use the forums for other initiatives that fit to the spirit of the MASN. So if you need a forum for a project, especially one that is connected to social and cultural anthropology, feel welcome to use this site!

3.) Our network has gained quite some experience in the organization of student & young academics conferences and also smaller anthropological events. If you want to take part on those experiences, feel free to contact us through this forum, or go to this info-page.

4.) Due to massive spamming and lack of personal resources, the validation of a new account is admin based and may take some days.

We hope that some fresh wind from motivated anthropology students or young scholars may revive the MASN!

Keep it movin' :-)

MASN Website Project - revitalizing the virtual communication & interacting space of the Moving Anthropology Student Network

Welcome to the fourth and hopefully long-lasting independent MASN homepage!

It is still work in progress, but to make it better especially your help is asked!

That means:

a) if you have any problems during using the page please write about it in the Help forum or send an email to us admins (the email-address will be spread soon).

b) if you have suggestions concerning the website's structure or would like to open a new local, thematic or working group please post your request in the MIT forum.

c) of course we need helping hands, at the moment we're just two, three people taking care of the project and we would be glad to welcome you in the admin team after some briefing. Here again, contact us via the MIT forum.

Looking forward to discuss with you in the forums,
cheers
maia (masn-vienna)
